TOLIVER BUILDING. Address – Princess and German Streets. J.M. Toliver, an African American, owned a successful business in downtown Shepherdstown. In 1894, his well-established restaurant burned down. He later built the large brick building located on the corner of Princess and German Streets, where he owned and operated a restaurant and an ice cream parlor.
