04019.CH – ST. PHILIP’S EPISCOPAL CHURCH — Because they needed a place to worship after the Civil War ended, St. Philip’s Episcopal Church was originated by Zion Episcopal Church to that end. Built in 1887, the church provided the African-Americans a place in which to worship. Located on Lawrence Street in Charles Town, worship services have continuously been held in this edifice.
